i thought since spring is on it's way, it would be fun to start sharing some of my favorite warm weather cocktails once in a while. now.. they won't be super original, but everyone makes things different so why not give you my tips and tricks? r and i have made these more times than i'd like to admit in the past 2 or 3 weeks. but they are just so easy to whip up and are very refreshing. this time, i tried to make it a "skinny". to be honest, i'll probably brave the few extra calories and make the sweeter one next time. i think i was only dissapointed though, because i knew what this little guy SHOULD taste like.
here's what i used to make a single serving: 2 oz (GOOD) tequila, juice from 1 1/2 limes, 1 oz. fresh squeezed oj, 1/2 oz. triple sec, and club soda to top.
mix all ingredients in a glass except for club soda, add ice and top w/ soda. done.
the ingredient i left out was some margarita mix. this definitely add's a lot of sweetness. you can add 2 oz. if you need it. you can also try mixing in some agave nectar as a more natural alternative.
this recipe is easily multiplied and made in large batches for your guests. for our parties we usually mix up a big batch in a pitcher and keep chilled until guests are ready for a refill. having recipes like this that you can make ahead really saves time when entertaining! so, what are your favorite spring and summer drinks?
